Trauma Informed Pilates

Creating Balance Between Your Mind and Body

Over the last 20 years, Pilates has experienced an explosion on a global level. While Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body it innately has a positive effect on the mind and spirit. With systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical, emotional and spiritual rehabilitation of all kinds.

A Coordination of Body and Mind

Joseph Pilates believed “…neither the mind nor the body is supreme…one cannot be subordinated to the other. Both must be coordinated, in order not only to accomplish the maximum results with the minimum expenditure of mental and physical energy, but also to live as long as possible in normal health and enjoy the benefits of a useful and happy life.” (Your Health, p. 40)
